Why use PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) Therapy for facial rejuvenation?
Aging of the skin leads to deterioration and damage, characterized by sagging, thinning of the skin, puffiness, aging spots, and wrinkling of the forehead, cheeks, and neck. Sun exposure worsens the process by solar-aging and UV irradiation, promoting vertical and horizontal facial wrinkles and body texture deterioration with time. The exciting new trend in anti-aging medicine is based on the regeneration of the patient’s own cells (autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP).
What are the benefits of PRP Therapy for the face?
There is a quantifiable improvement of skin complexion with visible changes noticeable in 3-4 weeks-especially on the forehead, cheeks, neck and the back of hands.
PRP is not volumetric filler like Juvederm, but a biological cell therapy, utilizing the patient’s own plasma enriched cells, resulting in more desirable and longer lasting results.
Can anyone use PRP treatments?
Not everyone is suitable. Persons with skin disease (SLE, porphyria, allergies), cancer, chemotherapy, severe metabolic and systemic disorders, and abnormal platelet function (i.e. blood disorders). Anti-coagulation therapy and underlying sepsis excludes the use of PRP.
